If your registration has been cancelled ("purged") for non-payment, you may be eligible for reinstatement. Two types of reinstatements are available at the U of M: (1) automatic reinstatements and (2) reinstatements requiring an appeal. Note: If you are looking for information on Readmission, contact Admissions at (901) 678-2111. Reinstatement information applies to registered students who have had their enrollment cancelled because on non-payment. Automatic Reinstatements If you have never been reinstated at the U of M, you are eligible for automatic reinstatement. However, automatic reinstatements are subject to the following time frame requirements. Term | Part of Term | Time Frame Number of days to initiate a reinstatement request following the first purge for the appropriate part of term.
Note: Reinstatements are NOT considered for follow-up purges for the part of term. | | Fall/Spring | Full Law RODP 1st Half 2nd Half | Two-week reinstatement period begins the day after the purge. | | Summer | Full Law RODP 1st Half 2nd Half | Two-week reinstatement period begins the day after the purge. | | Summer | Pre 1st Teacher 2nd Teacher | Three-day reinstatement period begins the day after the purge. (These parts of term are too short for any longer reinstatement period.) | Reinstatement Appeals If you were purged and reinstated previously, you cannot claim that you did not know the process. Therefore, you are not eligible for automatic reinstatement. However, you may appeal for reinstatement, but only within the following time frames. If you do not begin the appeal process within the required time frame, you will not be considered for reinstatement. Term | Part of Term | Time Frame Number of days to initiate a reinstatement request following the first purge for the appropriate part of term.)

These parts of term are too short to complete the process. | You must: - Go to the Registrar’s Office (003 Wilder Tower) within the Reinstatement Period.
- Complete the “Appeal for Reinstatement” form.
- Obtain a copy of the “Reinstatement Appeal – Instructor Approval” form.
- Take that form to each instructor whose class you want reinstated.
- Request that each instructor sign the form.
- Return the form to the Registrar’s Office whether signed by all instructors or not.
Note: If the instructor thinks that you have missed too much class work to be able to make the work up, the instructor may indicate this on the form or simply not sign. You will NOT be reinstated into any class which lacks instructor approval. Once all paperwork is completed and returned to the Registrar’s Office, the “Appeal for Reinstatement” will be reviewed and your record researched. If the request meets the criteria for continuing the process, the request and any pertinent information, including the instructors’ approvals, are emailed to the Appeals Committee along with a recommendation from the Registrar’s Office. A majority of the members of the Appeals Committee must vote for reinstatement before you will be reinstated. After all votes have been received, the Registrar’s Office will carry out the decision of the Committee by performing the following: - Inform you of the Committee’s decision.
And (if your appeal for reinstatement was approved): - Inform you of your deadline for satisfying your fees.
- Reinstate you into the courses that were approved by the instructors once you have satisfied all of your fees.
